Celebrate Your Marketing Wins

There’s always something on the marketing To Do list. It can feel overwhelming when the list keeps growing. On the other hand, when you look back at your year, maybe you have some marketing wins to celebrate. Here are some small wins that mean a lot in the big picture.
Tried Video Marketing
Any attempt at video marketing is a great start. Whether it’s a webinar, a live social feed, or recording an on-site demo video for clients, dipping your toe into the sea of video promotions is a good thing. Start with something small and attainable and see where it takes you.
Organized Media, Templates and Past Marketing Files
My husband has three electric hand sanders. Who needs 3 sanders? Someone who doesn’t know where they put the first one they owned and just buys one because it’s needed for a project right now. We see clients doing this ALL THE TIME. There’s nothing more painful than finding a photo, design template, or ad that could have been quickly and inexpensively reused after having a new one created. The time and money wasted on redoing things just because the old file can’t be found is enormous. If you took even 30 minutes to organize files so your assets can be found, pat yourself on the back!
Measured Marketing Performance
In the past, marketers were off the hook compared to their sales counterparts because marketing results couldn’t be ‘traced’ to a sale. That thinking is very old and not very helpful to businesses who invest their marketing dollars and expect a return. Marketing performance measures can include (but are not limited to):
- Activities
- Project completions
- Consistency
- Building marketing tools
- Contributions to business strategy
- Sales support activities
If you measured marketing activities comparing actual activity to a plan, “Way to go!”
Knew Business Goals and Contributed to Strategy Development
Marketing is a critical part of any business – forecasting demand, understanding conversions, managing a budget, researching and setting prices or estimating sales. The more your marketing assists in building the business plan for the coming year, the more valuable the marketing function is to the business. If you contributed to the business strategy, gold star for you. Next stop – a seat at the boardroom table.
